Yip1 interacting factor homolog B (YIF1B) is a membrane trafficking protein involved in endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to Golgi vesicle-mediated transport. It helps regulate the proper organization of the ER and Golgi and plays a pivotal role in the targeting of neuronal receptors to dendrites. YIF1B is also implicated in the formation of the primary cilium and sperm flagellum, likely by mediating protein transport to these sites. Mutations in YIF1B are associated with Kaya-Barakat-Masson syndrome and have been linked to Parkinson’s disease. The protein belongs to the Yif1 family but is not itself a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other typical therapeutic target class[2][7][1].
