YTH domain family, member 1 pseudogene

Molecular classification
Pseudogene
01

Overview

YTH domain family, member 1 pseudogene (ENSG00000277881) is a processed pseudogene that is homologous to the protein-coding gene YTHDF1. As a pseudogene, it does not produce a functional protein product and is generally not considered a drug target. Pseudogenes are non-functional genomic sequences derived from ancestral genes, often disrupted by mutations. While some pseudogenes can act as regulatory non-coding RNAs (for example, by acting as competitive endogenous RNAs and modulating the expression of their parental genes or related pathways), there is no evidence that this specific pseudogene plays a prominent therapeutic or diagnostic role. It should not be confused with the functional YTHDF1 protein, which is involved in RNA binding and m^6A RNA modification signaling pathways.

Biological functions

Possible regulatory, via non-coding RNA mechanisms (such as acting as a competitive endogenous RNA in some contexts), but does not encode a functional protein
03

Disease associations

Association with gene expression regulation in cancer has been described for some pseudogenes; however, specific evidence for YTH domain family, member 1 pseudogene is lacking
