Overview

Zinc finger protein 137, pseudogene (ZNF137P) is classified as a human pseudogene within the zinc finger protein family[2]. Although it shares sequence homology with functional zinc finger proteins—which are typically involved in DNA binding and gene regulation[3][5][9]—ZNF137P is considered non-coding and does not encode an active protein[4]. Zinc finger proteins are characterized by their zinc finger motifs that often interact with DNA, RNA, or proteins; however, as a pseudogene, ZNF137P lacks known biological activity or disease relevance[4][2]. Note: Zinc finger protein pseudogenes are remnants of duplicated genes that often lose their protein-coding capacity but may, in rare cases, have regulatory effects such as acting as long non-coding RNAs[8]. For therapeutic and structure-function annotation purposes, ZNF137P is not considered a valid drug target or receptor.
