Overview

Zinc finger protein 72B, pseudogene (ZNF72BP) is annotated as a pseudogene within the zinc finger protein superfamily. Zinc finger proteins (ZFPs) are typically involved in DNA, RNA, and protein binding, acting in transcriptional regulation and genome stability[1][3][5]. Pseudogenes, including ZNF72BP, are generally non-functional gene remnants resulting from evolutionary processes and do not encode active proteins. There is no evidence supporting any direct role of ZNF72BP in biological processes or disease, nor is it regarded as a therapeutic target. The canonical zinc finger motif consists of cysteine and histidine residues coordinated with zinc ions, but ZNF72BP's biological function is not established, and the gene is most likely a non-expressed locus with no effect on cell physiology[7].
