Zinc finger protein 849, pseudogene (ZNF849P)

Target
ZNF849P
Molecular classification
Other, Pseudogene, Zinc finger protein (C2H2-type, if based on homology)
01

Overview

Zinc finger protein 849, pseudogene (ZNF849P), also known as zinc finger protein 98 pseudogene, is a member of the zinc finger protein pseudogene family. Unlike functional zinc finger proteins, which play key roles in transcription regulation and DNA binding through their conserved zinc finger structural motifs, ZNF849P does not code for a functional protein due to its classification as a pseudogene. There is no evidence that it has a direct role in human disease, biological function, or as a drug target.

Mechanism of action

Not applicable

03

Biological functions

None assigned (as a pseudogene, it is generally considered non-functional)Note: Functional zinc finger proteins are typically involved in transcription regulation, DNA binding, chromatin remodeling, and other nuclear functions, but this does not apply to pseudogenes
04

Disease associations

None identified (pseudogenes usually lack a direct role; some pseudogenes can have regulatory roles or associations, but there is no evidence for ZNF849P)Other
