21MedTech develops bioresorbable polymer film and mesh technologies (based on its poly(ester urea) CYPREX platform) for local, controlled release of small-molecule drugs such as antibiotics and local anesthetics. Its SBIR-backed programs include ARRAY, an antibiotic-loaded bioresorbable envelope for cardiovascular implantable electronic devices, and SERENZA, a bupivacaine-loaded bioresorbable film for non-opioid post-surgical pain management. Current work, supported by multiple Phase II NIH SBIR awards, focuses on optimizing release kinetics, safety and efficacy in animal models, and manufacturing standards to advance toward first-in-human clinical trials and FDA clearance/approval.[1][2][7]
