A4 Health Systems was a leading provider of healthcare information technology solutions, specializing in electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software for ambulatory care. Based in Cary, North Carolina, the company was best known for its HealthMatics product suite, which integrated clinical and administrative data to streamline workflows for physician groups. In 2006, the company was acquired by Allscripts Healthcare Solutions for approximately $272 million, a move that significantly expanded Allscripts' presence in the small-to-mid-sized physician practice market. At the time of its acquisition, A4 Health Systems served over 1,500 installations and 30,000 physicians across the United States. Its legacy technology continues to influence the product offerings of Veradigm, the successor to Allscripts.
