Abiant was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on the development of molecular imaging agents for the diagnosis and monitoring of neurological diseases, specifically Alzheimer's disease. The company's core expertise lay in the creation of positron emission tomography (PET) tracers designed to bind to amyloid-beta plaques in the brain. By providing high-affinity imaging agents, Abiant aimed to improve the accuracy of early-stage Alzheimer's diagnosis and facilitate the development of amyloid-targeting therapeutics. In June 2012, Abiant was acquired by Navidea Biopharmaceuticals to strengthen Navidea's neuro-diagnostic portfolio. The acquisition integrated Abiant's proprietary radiopharmaceutical technology into Navidea's broader precision medicine platform.
