Company intelligence / Profile preview
Abmaxis was a biopharmaceutical company specializing in the discovery and optimization of monoclonal antibody therapeutics. The company developed a proprietary platform called Abmaxis In-silico Selection (AIS), which integrated computational methods with laboratory-based selection to engineer high-affinity, humanized antibodies. This technology allowed for the rapid optimization of antibody leads, improving their potency and reducing potential immunogenicity. In 2006, Abmaxis was acquired by Merck & Co. for approximately $80 million to enhance Merck's biologics discovery capabilities and pipeline. Following the acquisition, the Abmaxis team and technology were integrated into Merck Research Laboratories to support their global biologics strategy.
