Company intelligence / Profile preview
ABN AMRO Capital was the private equity and venture capital arm of the Dutch financial group ABN AMRO Bank. The firm was particularly notable in the healthcare sector through its dedicated life sciences team, which invested in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical technology companies across Europe and North America. In 2006, the life sciences division underwent a management buyout to become Forbion Capital Partners, which has since grown into one of Europe's leading life science venture capital firms. The remaining buy-out and private equity operations of ABN AMRO Capital were subsequently spun off in 2008 to form AAC Capital Partners. During its period of activity, the firm managed a diverse portfolio and was involved in several significant exits in the life sciences industry. Today, the entity no longer operates under the ABN AMRO Capital name, having transitioned into these independent successor firms.
