Company intelligence / Profile preview
Abraxis BioScience developed Abraxane®, a nanoparticle albumin-bound formulation of paclitaxel approved for metastatic breast cancer. Clinical trials showed improved progression-free survival versus standard therapies with fewer side effects. At the time of its acquisition by Celgene, Abraxane was also being studied in multiple solid tumor indications including lung and pancreatic cancers. The company’s proprietary nab™ technology platform enabled targeted delivery of chemotherapeutic agents using human albumin as a carrier.
