Originally formed as a provider-owned health plan by several Milwaukee-area health systems, it focused on coordinating care and improving health outcomes for low-income individuals and families. The company operated by managing a network of local providers to deliver comprehensive medical services to its enrolled members. In 2010, Abri Health Plan was acquired by Molina Healthcare for approximately $16.2 million. Following the acquisition, its operations and membership were integrated into Molina Healthcare of Wisconsin, significantly expanding Molina's presence in the state's Medicaid market.
