Acri.Tec was a prominent German medical technology company that specialized in the development, production, and distribution of implants and consumables for ophthalmic surgery. Founded in 1997 and based in Hennigsdorf, Germany, the company gained international recognition for its pioneering work in micro-incision cataract surgery (MICS). Its core product line featured high-performance intraocular lenses (IOLs), including monofocal, multifocal, and toric varieties designed to be implanted through incisions smaller than two millimeters. In addition to lenses, Acri.Tec provided ophthalmic viscosurgical devices (OVDs) and specialized surgical instruments. The company was acquired by Carl Zeiss Meditec in 2007 to bolster Zeiss's surgical ophthalmology portfolio, and its technologies are now fully integrated into the Zeiss product ecosystem.
