ActiPharma

ActiPharma A/S was a Danish biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of novel small molecule therapies for metabolic diseases, particularly Type 2 diabetes and obesity. Founded in 2002 by a group of former Novo Nordisk scientists, the company specialized in targeting G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and other enzymes involved in glucose and lipid metabolism. In 2010, ActiPharma licensed its lead GPR119 agonist program to Sanofi-Aventis in a deal worth up to $80 million in upfront payments. The company was subsequently acquired by Novo Nordisk in 2011, which integrated ActiPharma's remaining research assets and metabolic disease expertise into its internal pipeline.
