Overview

Addis Energy has demonstrated its novel subsurface ammonia production process in the lab. The process uses nitrate-containing water injected into iron-rich rock to generate hydrogen underground, which then reacts with nitrogen to form ammonia. This approach leverages natural subsurface heat and pressure as a reactor, offering a net energy-positive alternative to Haber-Bosch with zero CO₂ emissions. Field pilot programs are being prepared but have not yet commenced.
