Adhesys Medical is a medical technology company specializing in the development of innovative polyurethane-based surgical adhesives. Founded in 2013 as a spin-off from RWTH Aachen University and Bayer MaterialScience, the company provides biodegradable, flexible, and moisture-resistant sealants for both internal and external surgical applications. Their lead products, VIVO and FLIP, offer clinicians a rapid and effective alternative to traditional sutures and staples, particularly in challenging surgical environments. The technology platform is designed to be biocompatible and easy to apply, addressing unmet needs in wound closure and leakage prevention. In April 2017, Adhesys Medical was acquired by the pharmaceutical company Grünenthal to strengthen its position in the surgical and wound care markets.
