Adria Laboratories was a prominent American pharmaceutical company best known for its significant contributions to oncology, specifically the commercialization of the blockbuster chemotherapy drug Adriamycin (doxorubicin). Founded as a joint venture between Montedison and Hercules Inc., the company became a leader in the cancer treatment market during the 1970s and 1980s. Adria played a critical role in establishing doxorubicin as a standard of care for various malignancies, including breast cancer and hematologic tumors. The company was eventually integrated into Erbamont and subsequently acquired by Pharmacia, which is now part of Pfizer.
