Advance Biofactures Corporation was a specialized biotechnology company focused on the development and manufacturing of collagenase-based therapeutics. The company is most notable for its pioneering work on collagenase clostridium histolyticum, a sterile lyophilized powder of two purified collagenases used to treat conditions characterized by excessive collagen accumulation. This technology served as the foundation for the FDA-approved drug Xiaflex, which is used for Dupuytren's contracture and Peyronie's disease. Following years of collaboration, the company was acquired by its partner Auxilium Pharmaceuticals in 2004, which was subsequently acquired by Endo International.
