Advanced BioSurfaces

Advanced BioSurfaces was a medical device company focused on developing minimally invasive orthopedic implants for the treatment of osteoarthritis. The company's flagship product, the OrthoGlide Medial Knee Implant, was designed as a metallic wedge to be inserted into the knee joint to redistribute load and alleviate pain without the need for bone fixation. Founded in 1998 and based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, the company aimed to bridge the gap between conservative treatments and total knee replacement. In 2009, Zimmer Holdings acquired the assets of Advanced BioSurfaces to integrate their joint resurfacing technologies into Zimmer's orthopedic portfolio. The acquisition allowed for the expansion of non-invasive surgical options for patients with early-stage degenerative joint disease.
