The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) is a world-leading cluster of industry-focused manufacturing R&D centers, established in 2001 as a collaboration between the University of Sheffield and Boeing. As a core member of the UK's High Value Manufacturing Catapult, the AMRC specializes in translating academic research into practical industrial applications to drive productivity and innovation. Its dedicated Medical AMRC (MAMRC) division focuses on the healthcare sector, providing expertise in medical device design, orthopaedic implants, and surgical instrumentation. The center is ISO 13485 certified for medical device prototyping and leverages advanced technologies such as additive manufacturing, robotics, and digital twins. With over 120 industrial members, the AMRC works with both global multinationals and SMEs to de-risk R&D and accelerate the commercialization of new technologies.
