Advanced Technology Laboratories (ATL) was a pioneering medical device company specializing in the development and manufacture of diagnostic ultrasound systems. Based in Bothell, Washington, the company was instrumental in advancing real-time ultrasound imaging and digital beamforming technologies, which became industry standards. Their flagship High Definition Imaging (HDI) platform significantly improved diagnostic capabilities in cardiology, radiology, and obstetrics. In 1998, ATL was acquired by Philips for approximately $800 million, serving as the foundation for Philips' global leadership in the ultrasound market. Today, its legacy continues through the integrated ultrasound solutions offered by Philips Healthcare.
