Company intelligence / Profile preview
ADViSYS was a biotechnology company specializing in the development of DNA-based therapies delivered via electroporation. The company's primary focus was on plasmid-mediated delivery of Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone (GHRH) to treat conditions such as cancer cachexia, anemia, and growth hormone deficiency. ADViSYS successfully commercialized Life-Tide, a DNA-based therapy for swine, marking one of the first successful applications of plasmid-based gene therapy in animal health. In 2007, the company was acquired by VGX Pharmaceuticals, which subsequently merged with Inovio Biomedical to form Inovio Pharmaceuticals, integrating ADViSYS's technology into the Inovio DNA medicine platform.
