Company intelligence / Profile preview
Aegis Medical Innovations has developed the Sierra Ligation System, a minimally invasive epicardial device designed to close off the left atrial appendage and reduce stroke risk in patients with atrial fibrillation who are not ideal candidates for anticoagulation. The company received FDA Investigational Device Exemption approval to begin a U.S. feasibility trial ("LASSO-AF") assessing safety and procedural success. The technology was developed in partnership with Mayo Clinic and aims to offer a safer alternative to endocardial devices by avoiding implantation inside the heart[5][8][10].
