Aegis Therapeutics is a specialty pharmaceutical and drug delivery company based in San Diego, California, best known for its proprietary Intravail technology. The Intravail platform consists of a broad selection of chemically synthesized transmucosal absorption enhancers that enable the non-invasive systemic delivery of proteins, peptides, and small molecules via nasal, buccal, or oral administration. This technology has been instrumental in the development of several FDA-approved products, including Valtoco (diazepam nasal spray) for epilepsy and Tosymra (sumatriptan nasal spray) for migraines. In addition to its internal pipeline of reformulated drugs for diabetes and osteoporosis, Aegis has established numerous licensing agreements with major pharmaceutical companies such as Roche, Pfizer, and Merck. The company was acquired by Neurelis in 2019 to integrate the Intravail platform into Neurelis's portfolio of neurological and orphan drug treatments.
