AerovectRx was an aerosol drug delivery and therapeutics company based in Norcross, Georgia, that operated as a spin-out from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The company's core technology, the AeroCell™ platform, utilized ultrasonic vibrating mesh technology and unit-dose cartridges to deliver complex biologics, vaccines, and small molecules directly to the respiratory tract. This platform was designed to improve patient compliance and eliminate cross-contamination, with a primary focus on mass immunization for influenza. AerovectRx also explored the delivery of inhaled insulin for diabetes and treatments for asthma and fungal infections. Although the company received 510(k) clearance for its nebulizer technology in 2006, it ultimately ceased operations and underwent liquidation. Its intellectual property was based on patents exclusively licensed from the CDC and Creare Inc.
