Company intelligence / Profile preview
Aesculap Implant Systems is a U.S.-based medical device company within the B. Braun group that commercially marketed orthopedic (hip and knee) and spine implant systems such as the VEGA System knee, Columbus knee systems, and activL artificial disc. As of April 1, 2024 it stopped sales of all orthopedic hip and knee products in the United States, and as of September 30, 2024 it ceased marketing and distribution of its spine portfolio in the United States, while exploring external partnerships to continue the spine technologies.[7][9] The company agreed in 2025 to pay $38.5 million to resolve U.S. False Claims Act allegations related to premature failures of the VEGA System knee devices.[5][10]
