Affinity Molecules

Affinity Molecules was a California-based biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of high-affinity human monoclonal antibodies. Founded in 2001 by Dr. James Larrick, the company developed a proprietary platform utilizing ribosome display and large-scale human antibody libraries to identify therapeutic candidates with high specificity and binding affinity. This technology was designed to streamline the antibody discovery process and produce candidates with superior pharmacological properties compared to traditional hybridoma-based methods. In 2005, the company was acquired by the Australian biotech firm EvoGenix for approximately $4 million in stock. The acquisition integrated Affinity's discovery capabilities into EvoGenix's antibody engineering pipeline, which eventually became part of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries through a series of subsequent mergers.
