Afriqvax is a vaccine manufacturing company based in Senegal, established to spearhead the continent's efforts toward vaccine self-sufficiency. Operating out of a state-of-the-art facility in Diamniadio, the company is a central pillar of the MADIBA (Manufacturing in Africa for Disease Immunization and Building Autonomy) project led by the Institut Pasteur de Dakar. Afriqvax focuses on the large-scale production of essential vaccines, including those for Yellow Fever and COVID-19, utilizing diverse technologies such as mRNA and viral vectors. The company provides comprehensive manufacturing services, ranging from drug substance production to fill-and-finish operations. By localizing production, Afriqvax aims to ensure a stable and affordable supply of life-saving immunizations for the African population. It plays a critical role in the African Union's broader strategy to produce 60% of the continent's vaccine needs locally by 2040.
