Company intelligence / Profile preview
AgCert International was a pioneer in the carbon emissions reduction industry, specializing in the production and sale of high-quality carbon credits. The company focused on agricultural methane capture and destruction, primarily from large-scale livestock operations in developing countries such as Brazil and Mexico. By implementing anaerobic digesters and other waste management technologies, AgCert generated Certified Emission Reductions (CERs) under the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism. Despite its early leadership and successful IPO on the London Stock Exchange, the company faced significant financial difficulties due to project delays and market volatility. It was eventually acquired by the AES Corporation after entering administration in 2008.
