Agila Specialties was a global leader in the development and manufacture of sterile injectable generic drugs. Originally established as the specialties division of Strides Arcolab, the company focused on high-growth therapeutic areas including oncology, anti-infectives, and critical care. Agila operated several world-class manufacturing facilities across India, Brazil, and Poland, many of which were approved by the US FDA and other international regulatory bodies. In 2013, the company was acquired by Mylan for approximately 1.6 billion USD, significantly expanding Mylan's global injectables portfolio. Today, its assets and operations are integrated into Viatris following the merger of Mylan and Upjohn.
