AgrEvo was a leading agricultural biotechnology and agrochemical company formed in 1994 as a joint venture between Hoechst AG and Schering AG. The company specialized in developing crop protection products and genetically modified seeds, most notably the LibertyLink system which provided resistance to glufosinate-ammonium herbicides. AgrEvo played a pivotal role in the early commercialization of biotechnology in agriculture before merging into Aventis CropScience in 1999.
