Agrigenetics

Agrigenetics was a foundational agricultural biotechnology company that specialized in the genetic modification of crops to improve yield and resistance to environmental stressors. Founded in 1979, the company was a leader in the first wave of biotech firms, utilizing recombinant DNA technology to develop traits such as insect resistance and herbicide tolerance in major row crops. Its research and development efforts significantly contributed to the commercialization of genetically modified seeds, including Bt corn and high-quality sunflower varieties. Following its acquisition by Lubrizol and subsequent integration into Dow AgroSciences, Agrigenetics' intellectual property and germplasm became core components of the modern Corteva Agriscience portfolio.
