Based in South San Francisco, the company utilized a proprietary functional genomics platform to identify gene expression changes in the human brain associated with neurological and psychiatric conditions. Its lead clinical candidate, AGY-94806, was a peptide-based NMDA receptor antagonist developed for the treatment of ischemic stroke. The company's pipeline also included programs for Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia. AGY Therapeutics was acquired by Saegis Pharmaceuticals in 2006, which was subsequently acquired by Lundbeck.
