Ai Biomed Corp. is a medical technology company focused on developing advanced intraoperative solutions for endocrine surgery. The company's primary product, the PTeye™ parathyroid detection system, is a probe-based device that uses autofluorescence to help surgeons identify and preserve parathyroid glands during thyroid and parathyroid procedures. This real-time feedback mechanism is designed to reduce the incidence of accidental parathyroid removal, a common complication that leads to post-operative hypocalcemia. Originally developed at Vanderbilt University and cleared by the FDA in 2018, the technology was acquired by Medtronic in October 2020. Ai Biomed now operates as part of Medtronic’s Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) division, continuing to support surgical precision in head and neck oncology.
