Company intelligence / Profile preview
AiBST (African Institute of Biomedical Science and Technology) is a hybrid biomedical research and development organization based in Harare, Zimbabwe, dedicated to advancing pharmaceutical and genomic medicine in Africa. Founded in 2002 by Professor Collen Masimirembwa, the institute operates as both a high-level academic center and a commercial R&D entity, providing contract research services (CRO) such as DMPK, ADMET, and Phase I clinical trials. AiBST is a leader in African pharmacogenomics, having developed the GenoPharm diagnostic chip to optimize drug dosing based on genetic profiles common in African populations. The institute's research portfolio includes precision medicine initiatives for breast cancer, tuberculosis, and hypertension, as well as early-stage drug discovery programs for malaria and TB. Through its "iPROTECTA" program and various international collaborations, AiBST aims to bridge the gap between scientific innovation and clinical implementation to improve health outcomes across the continent.
