AIDS Research and Prevention

The Statistical Center for HIV/AIDS Research and Prevention (SCHARP) is a premier statistical and data management center based at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle. SCHARP provides comprehensive biostatistics, clinical data management, and analytical services for large-scale global clinical trials, primarily focused on HIV/AIDS prevention and vaccine development. It serves as the Statistical and Data Management Center (SDMC) for several major NIH-funded research networks, including the HIV Vaccine Trials Network (HVTN) and the HIV Prevention Trials Network (HPTN). With over three decades of experience, SCHARP has managed data for more than 250 clinical trials across 30 countries, playing a pivotal role in landmark studies such as the HPTN 052 trial and the rapid development of COVID-19 vaccines through the CoVPN.
