Company intelligence / Profile preview
AIDS Services in Asian Communities (ASAC) was a non-profit healthcare service organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, focused on HIV/AIDS prevention and support for Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) populations. Founded in 1989, the organization provided culturally competent and linguistically appropriate services, including case management, counseling, and community outreach. ASAC played a critical role in addressing the unique social stigmas and barriers to care faced by AAPI individuals living with or at risk for HIV. The organization also engaged in advocacy and education to increase awareness of health disparities within Asian communities. ASAC was a pioneer in recognizing and tackling health disparities within the diverse Asian immigrant and refugee populations in the Greater Philadelphia area. Although it was a vital resource for over a decade, the organization eventually ceased independent operations.
