Company intelligence / Profile preview
AIS Aachen Innovative Solutions is a German medical technology company specializing in the development of advanced circulatory support systems. The company is best known for its innovative expandable catheter-pump technology, which is designed to provide high-flow cardiac support through a minimally invasive, small-bore access point. This technology aims to significantly reduce vascular complications for patients undergoing high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions or those in cardiogenic shock. In April 2020, AIS was acquired by Abiomed, a leader in heart recovery and support technologies, to enhance the Impella product portfolio. The core AIS technology is currently being developed as the Impella ECP, which has received Breakthrough Device Designation from the FDA. Following the acquisition of Abiomed by Johnson & Johnson in 2022, AIS's innovations now form a critical part of the Johnson & Johnson MedTech cardiology pipeline.
