Akorn Animal Health was the veterinary division of Akorn Pharmaceuticals, specializing in the development, manufacture, and marketing of multisource and branded animal health products. The company maintained a significant presence in the United States veterinary market, focusing on therapeutic areas such as ophthalmology, anesthesia, and pain management. Its portfolio included widely used injectable sedatives and reversal agents, as well as specialized ophthalmic treatments for companion animals. In February 2023, the parent company, Akorn Operating Company LLC, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy and abruptly ceased all operations. This resulted in the immediate closure of the animal health division and the recall of all its products from the market.
