Overview
Akribion Therapeutics has developed a proprietary, highly specific, RNA-guided nuclease platform called G-dase® E. This enzyme can selectively kill cells by degrading their DNA and RNA only when a precise match exists between the guide RNA and an intracellular target sequence. The company’s lead program targets HPV-driven oropharyngeal head and neck cancer by exploiting unique viral RNAs as biomarkers. The approach promises high selectivity with minimal off-target effects compared to traditional therapies. As of early 2025, the company remains preclinical but aims to achieve in vivo proof-of-concept using recent €8 million seed funding.
