Company intelligence / Profile preview
The Akura Mechanical Thrombectomy Platform has completed first-in-human procedures in the Republic of Georgia for pulmonary embolism. The initial cases demonstrated successful use for large volume, mixed morphology clot removal. Clinical trials are ongoing to further evaluate safety and performance. The device aims to address limitations of current mechanical thrombectomy options by providing a low-profile system with integrated aspiration and maceration technology, real-time hemodynamic monitoring, and the ability to remove both soft and hard clots efficiently without crossing the clot. No published pivotal trial results as of June 2025. Not FDA cleared or CE Mark approved. First-in-human study initiated May 2023; additional clinical studies planned. $35M Series B financing closed October 2023 to support regulatory filings and expanded trials.
