Akzona

Akzona Inc. was a prominent North American subsidiary of the Dutch chemical and pharmaceutical conglomerate Akzo (now AkzoNobel). Established in 1970 through the consolidation of Akzo's US interests, the company operated across several sectors, with its pharmaceutical division, Organon, gaining international recognition for its work in reproductive health and anesthesiology. Akzona was responsible for the US commercialization and development of significant medical advancements, including early oral contraceptives and neuromuscular blocking agents. Although the Akzona name was phased out following its full acquisition by Akzo in 1982, its legacy continues through the pharmaceutical products and research lineages that eventually became part of Merck & Co. and the modern Organon & Co.
