Alcan Packaging was a global leader in the design and manufacture of flexible and specialty packaging solutions, with a significant focus on the pharmaceutical and healthcare sectors. The company provided critical primary packaging components, including blister packs, cold-form foils, laminates, and tubes, ensuring the integrity and shelf-life of various medical products. Originally a division of the Canadian aluminum giant Alcan, the packaging unit was a key supplier to major global pharmaceutical companies. Following the acquisition of Alcan by Rio Tinto, the majority of Alcan Packaging's assets, specifically the global pharmaceutical, food, and tobacco businesses, were sold to Amcor in 2010. This transition integrated Alcan's advanced material science capabilities into Amcor's extensive healthcare packaging portfolio.
