Company intelligence / Profile preview
AlchiMedics is a French medical technology company specialized in developing biocompatible and biomimetic coatings for implantable medical devices, particularly in interventional cardiology and neurology. Spun off from the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in 2007, the company pioneered an 'Electro-grafting' technology that covalently bonds nanometric polymer brushes onto metallic surfaces to promote rapid re-endothelialization and prevent late thrombosis. Its proprietary CD31-mimicking peptide coating acts as a biomimetic camouflage, preventing platelet adhesion and eliminating device-related thrombo-inflammation. Acquired by SINOMED in 2012, AlchiMedics' technologies power commercialized drug-eluting stents, including the BuMA and HT Supreme platforms, which have been implanted in over two million patients worldwide.
