Alexandrovska University Hospital

Alexandrovska University Hospital is a large state university hospital and academic medical center in Sofia, Bulgaria, affiliated with the Medical University of Sofia. Founded in 1879, it is widely described by the hospital as the first university and multispecialty hospital in Bulgaria and one of the country’s largest tertiary care centers. The hospital provides inpatient, outpatient, emergency, diagnostic, surgical, transplant, educational, and research services across a broad range of specialties through numerous clinics, laboratories, and centers. Its capabilities include organ and cell transplantation, invasive cardiology, nuclear medicine, endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery, advanced ophthalmology, neurology, and clinical pharmacology. Rather than operating as a drug-development biotech company, it functions primarily as a healthcare delivery, teaching, and clinical research institution.
