Alexian Brothers Health System is a comprehensive healthcare provider based in the Chicago suburbs, originally founded by the Congregation of Alexian Brothers. The system operates several acute-care hospitals, specialty mental health facilities, and a network of primary and specialty care clinics. In 2012, the system joined Ascension, the largest non-profit health system in the U.S., to enhance its clinical capabilities and resources. It previously operated under the AMITA Health brand through a joint venture, but now functions as part of Ascension Illinois. The organization is known for its strong emphasis on behavioral health, senior care, and community-based medical services.
