Company intelligence / Profile preview
Algar Agro was the agribusiness division of the Brazilian conglomerate Algar Group, primarily focused on the processing and marketing of soybeans and their derivatives. Established in 1978, the company operated major industrial complexes in Uberlândia and Porto Franco, producing soybean oil under the ABC brand and soybean meal for animal nutrition. In 2018, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) acquired Algar Agro's soybean processing and refining assets, leading the Algar Group to refocus its agricultural activities on grain production and livestock through its subsidiary Algar Farming. The company was also recognized for its innovation in sustainable packaging, having developed one of the world's lightest PET bottles for edible oil.
