Alio has developed a wearable remote patient monitoring system—SmartPatch—that non-invasively tracks key health parameters in chronic care populations such as dialysis and heart failure patients. The system received FDA clearance to monitor skin temperature, auscultation sounds, and heart rate from arm-based vascular access sites in end-stage kidney disease patients. Additional submissions have been made to expand the monitored metrics to include hemoglobin, hematocrit, potassium levels; commercial launch will follow further clearances. Clinical studies are ongoing to validate new use cases including calf placement of the patch and expanded metric tracking. Early results show high correlation with gold-standard measurements.
