Overview
Allena Pharmaceuticals developed first-in-class oral enzyme therapeutics targeting difficult-to-treat metabolic diseases. Its lead programs were reloxaliase, a non-systemically absorbed oxalate-degrading enzyme in Phase 3 trials for enteric hyperoxaluria, and ALLN‑346, an orally administered urate-degrading enzyme in Phase 2a trials for patients with gout/hyperuricemia and advanced CKD. Both programs leveraged a proprietary oral biologics platform. The company received Fast Track Designation from the FDA but ceased operations following bankruptcy proceedings completed in mid‑2023.[1][2][3][6]
