AllerGen NCE

AllerGen NCE (The Allergy, Genes and Environment Network) was a Canadian non-profit research network dedicated to the causes, treatment, and prevention of allergic diseases and asthma. Established in 2004 through the federal Networks of Centres of Excellence (NCE) program, the organization catalyzed collaborations between academia, industry, and government. Its primary legacy includes the CHILD Cohort Study, a massive longitudinal birth cohort study investigating the origins of allergy and chronic disease. The network supported the development of various diagnostics, therapeutics, and public health policies before concluding its NCE-funded mandate in 2019. Headquartered at McMaster University, it involved over 100 researchers across Canada and significantly advanced the field of immunology.
